Many Flowers Blooming Now
Corpse flowers bloom completely unpredictably, sometimes blooming every few years and sometimes not blooming for more than a decade. The flowers are native to Sumatra, so they require high heat and humidity, especially at night, in order to bloom. Between 1889 and 2008, there were only 157 recorded corpse flower blooms, but there have been at least seven in the U.S. in 2016 alone. If you happen to be in the area and want to catch a glimpse, one is scheduled to bloom in Seattle within the next two weeks.
